My AI Course Designer mapped out a full course for me in just a couple of hours.

And while it was "working", I was reading my favorite manga.

And nope, I didn't use prompts.

I built an AI team member. A course designer that's trained on a proven system I've run multiple times for the past 2-3 years.

Here's how and why it works:

Every step, every phase of the process was tested and refined manually before I created the AI version of it.

That's the part that let me go read manga. Not because AI is smart. Well partially but more than that, it’s because the system is already proven.

I didn't build my AI Course Designer based on guesswork. I also didn't build it from scratch. I did have to make some adjustments so AI knows exactly what I'm looking for and the quality of the output that I want.

I want every lesson to come from real source materials, nothing invented. I want a specific format for every lesson. I want activities and resources listed for every lesson. In short, I want a bunch of things.

And as a safety net, every draft ran through an internal QA pass before AI sends it to me. That way, when I review it, it's 90% there.

And in case you're wondering, that whole process is not fully automated by AI because I still want to review and approve every output. AI is great at mapping out lessons but there are nuances in Curriculum Design that it's not good at. Yet.

Anyway, that whole setup is a Skill, which is a set of repeatable instructions AI follows every time it's run. I walked through the whole thing in my newest YouTube video. Watch it here.

Now sometimes, I would build tools not because it's a proven process but because it addresses a personal blocker. I'd think of an idea or a concept that could address a real personal blocker and I would use AI to build it.

Like the AI Cheerleader I built a few months ago.

Why? Because I ended up underpricing myself on a call. Self doubt showed up and ran the show.

So I built something I could talk to before any call to remind me of the results I've gotten for clients, the amazing positive feedback I've received from real business owners who attended my AI workshops, and other client testimonials.

I shared how I built it, and why, in a recent podcast interview (Authentic Voice Leadership with Dr Leslie Davis). Plus a few other insights that could be useful for you.

We also covered:

  • My 5-layer AI delegation framework. Consistency, Time, Capacity, Insights, Expertise.

  • Why automating a broken process just breaks things faster.

  • My "digital employee" content system

What I appreciated most about our conversation: she's not in either extreme camp on AI. Not "it's evil." Not "use it for everything." She gets that the tool only works if the voice behind it is actually yours.
