I recently spoke at an AI summit.

And there's something I should've done that I didn't.

You see, I talked about my AI Delegation System during my presentation. I used my AI quiz as a giveaway.

But I knew that I could've provided more value to the summit attendees.

The talk explains my AI Delegation framework. The quiz helps them identify how they can better leverage AI. And I knew that an implementation plan can increase the likelihood of them actually doing something about what they learned from the talk.

But I didn't do it.

And the annoying part? Claude could've built it for me in minutes because I'd already done the hard part.

I already built a version of it. It's a workbook for a different audience.

So why didn't I?

Well... it's because the part where Claude builds it is actually the fast part.

But before it could build anything, I had to decide the direction of the workbook ie what examples would land, what exercises would be relevant, etc... Then I'd have to review the whole thing to make sure it makes sense.

You might be wondering: but you can just ask AI to do all that!

And you're right. I could.

But the thing is... I'm always against outsourcing our thinking to AI.

Because just like any other skills, if we stop using our cognitive abilities because we fully outsource everything to AI, we'd lose that skill.

Not sure about you, but it's a risk I don't want to gamble.

I use AI as my collaborator. My thinking partner. My brainstorming buddy. My first draft writer. My ideation homie.

Because for me, thinking with AI helps sharpen my thinking.

But I digress....

Back on that workbook...

Plain and simple. I didn't do it because I didn't have the time.

I know. Such a lame excuse. But that's the truth.

To get that workbook done, I needed thinking time.

And that week I didn't have it, because I was on a deadline for a client's course launch.

As I write this, I realized that we (myself included) don't really take into account thinking time when we delegate to AI.

Or maybe you already do, which is fantastic!

Most people only talk about the time it takes for AI to do the work. Nobody counts the thinking time humans need to direct, review and approve the work.

Essentially, these 3 pieces right here:

1. Direction. Figuring out what you actually want and what to tell AI.

2. Review. Checking the output before it goes anywhere with your name on it.

3. Next steps. Deciding what happens after it's approved.

All of these involves one thing: making decisions.

And right now, while I loooove what AI can do, I don't fully trust it with every business decision.

So if you've ever wondered why you have AI tools and your to-do list still looks the same, this might be why.

(Or it could be something else entirely)

But next time you hand a task to AI, block time for the direction and the review too. Especially on a busy week.

By the way, I just dropped a video on how I repurposed one lead magnet into 4 different assets using Claude. One of which is the workbook I was talking about earlier.

When you’re ready, here’s how I can help you leverage AI better:

  • AI Chief of Staff: A ready-made system that teaches your AI who you are i.e. your clients, your projects, your voice, your routines. Ask for a briefing, a client prep, or a post, and it answers like someone who's worked with you for years. Join the waitlist here.

  • AI Command Center (VIP Day): An AI second brain and your digital HQ, tailored to how you actually work. We look at what's eating most of your time and hand off 80% of the grunt work to AI, so you can spend the day on the 20% that matters. Book a call to see if it’s a fit.

  • AI Assessment: For teams of 10+ who want a custom AI build. A structured look at your current workflows and processes to identify AI opportunities that can increase revenue, reduce expenses or save time. Reply ASSESSMENT if interested.
